Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Student Progression:
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu uses a system of belts and ranks to mark progression of a student’s skill. Promotions are based on the amount of technical knowledge a student can demonstrate as well as the level of skill with which he/she can perform the techniques in sparring. The ultimate criterion is the ability to execute the techniques successfully, rather than strict stylistic compliance.
At each belt level, up to 4 stripes can be earned before promotion to the next level.
