"The martial arts academy is an extension of your home, of helping each other and creating friendships. Nobuo has the culture and the philosophy. He brings the discipline from Japanese culture and students will fall in love with the way he teaches the art." - Rigan Machado. Jiu Jitsu Legend/8th degree Coral belt.
6x NHL All Star and 2002 Olympian. - "I was looking for a new creative work out challenge, one specifically to improve my agility and flexibility. I came across Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Nobuo. I have been very fortunate to get a chance to work with him one on one. I find it stimulating, challenging and fun. My body feels more free and athletic. My 7 and 9 year old boys are also loving it. They were thrilled to begin sparring on day one!! I truly feel Jiu Jitsu will be a great compliment to the other competitive sports we compete in."
I have been training with Nobuo for over 10 years, and he is hands down one of the best instructors and coaches I have ever met. Way of Jiu-Jitsu has some of the best Newaza in Denver, and the community is unlike any other. Everyone is friendly, welcoming, and eager to learn. Nobu is a great judoka and Sensei, teaching high-level judo to his students, making the academy extremely well-rounded in martial arts. If you live on the east side of Denver, you have to train here with the best!
Way of Jiu Jitsu is for anyone looking for a safe and ego free place to learn the beautiful art form of Jiu Jitsu. Regardless if you are looking to learn self defense - or looking to compete - you can get everything here. The kids program is huge and there are kids of all ranks, age, and sizes. The adult program is also huge - new and experienced people all come together for a fun filled and knowledgeable experience. I have been training from almost a year now, and have learned so much! Almost a blue belt and each time I attend I learn something new! The best part is during open roll, everyone lets me work my techniques that I understand, while challenging me to learn more difficult concepts. Best Jiu Jitsu in Denver by far!
"Family atmosphere and the Best BJJ training center in Colorado!"
/// 4x World Wrestling Champion/ADCC medalist USA Olympic Coach.
If you're looking for a McDojo and get belts quickly and expensively this place isn't for you. If you want to push yourself, learn self defense, and meet some of the best people in the world then come by for come by for a trial and see yourself.
I was a purple belt when I moved to Denver. Finding the right Jiu-Jitsu school was important. The quality instruction and friendly atmosphere at Colorado BJJ made my decision easy.
I've been training at Way of Jiu Jitsu with professor Nobuo since moving to CO in 2014 and is hands down a great place to train! Professor trains us to use jiu jitsu without the use of strength, which was not the way I trained in Fl, and teaches us to attack and defend from all gaurd positions. I'd recommend this place for all belt ranks. Oss!
Fantastic place to train! My first priority before getting stationed in Colorado was to find a new BJJ school, and Way of Jiu Jitsu does not disappoint. Nobou does an amazing job explaining technique, and offers classes for all skill levels. Whether you are trying to find a school for your children, trying to grow as a high level BJJ competitor, MMA fighter, or even someone just looking to finally try out BJJ; Way of Jiu Jitsu Academy is the place to be!
As a mother of 2 girls, jiu jitsu is the greatest gift I can give them for self confidence, self defense and the love of what their bodies can do rather than what it looks like. My girls have been training with Nobuo at Way of jj for 5 years. I have noticed such a difference in them mind and body. With gaining strength, endurance and confidence it has also improved their soccer skills. Way of jj is a positive community that supports and respects each other. We feel so fortunate to have found such an amazing place!
I have wanted to learn a martial art for as long as I can remember. My career kept getting in the way. I am a surgeon here in Denver in my late 30s. The long hours and many years of residency and fellowship made martial arts training impossible. Nine months ago I found the Way of Jiu Jitsu website, and they had an offer for three free classes. I was officially out of excuses. Professor Nobuo was out of town when I showed up for my first class. I prepared to leave. The brown belt who was leading class that day just said "Stay. Why wait until next week when you can start today." That simple statement sums up Way of Jiu Jitsu. Just show up and don't worry about the number of stripes or the color of your belt. I would not be able to work if my hands were ever seriously injured. The environment here is safe. BJJ is an excellent workout for the body, but it is even better for the mind, spirit, and emotions. It helps me deal with stress. Everyone here is welcoming and instructive. I do not remember having this much fun while being continuously humbled by the knowledge and skill of those above me. Regardless of your occupation or background this is a place where you can thrive.
As a professional athlete at NHL Colorado Avalanche, you are constantly looking for an edge over your competition. I began learning with Professor Nobuo without any idea of what I was getting into. Without a doubt, I wish I began years ago. In a short few months I have seen incredible improvement, not only physically, but mentally.Aside from the strength and stamina benefits, I can honestly say my confidence and composure under stress have skyrocketed. Something that translates not only to hockey but every day life as well.
I would invite anyone, athlete or not, to look into coming to learn from Professor Nobuo and learn Jiu Jitsu. It will be a staple in my life for years to come.
This is an amazing place to train. In March of 2015 we were looking for a place to enroll our 6 year old for training. After extensive research we thought we would give Way of Jiu Jitsu a try. (It was the Colorado BJJ). We are so happy we did! Nobuo is an amazing Professor and a true craftsman of his art. He is patient and directive with his students and I couldn't be more proud of the progress our child has garnered through his instruction. He engages his students and pushes them to go beyond their comfort zones. If you want the best in Denver, come here!
